Why Did I Build This JSON Formatter Tool?
In my daily development work, I often need to view and process JSON data that comes in non-standard formats - keys without quotes, extra quotes at the beginning and end, single quotes instead of double quotes, and so on. When using other JSON formatting tools, these cases would simply throw errors and fail to process.
So I built this JSON formatter tool to intelligently handle various non-standard JSON formats, while also implementing features like beautification, compression, validation, and conversion.
Core Features Overview
Smart Formatting
Transform non-standard or compressed JSON data into a clean, readable format.
Data Compression
If you need to reduce file size or improve transmission efficiency, this tool can compress formatted JSON to its minimum size, removing all unnecessary spaces and line breaks.
Syntax Validation
Before formatting, the tool validates JSON syntax correctness and provides detailed error messages to help you quickly locate problems.
Format Conversion
Supports conversion between JSON and other formats, including YAML, XML, CSV, and more, to meet different scenario requirements.
Intelligent Processing Capabilities
Traditional JSON tools can only handle standard formats, but in actual development we often encounter various “non-standard” situations:
Support for Unquoted Keys
// Traditional tools would throw errors, but our tool handles this
{
name: "John",
age: 25,
city: "New York"
}
Support for Single Quote Strings
// Automatically converts single quotes to standard double quotes
{
'name': 'Jane',
'message': 'Hello World'
}
Support for Trailing Commas
// Automatically cleans up extra commas
{
"items": ["apple", "banana", "orange",],
"config": {
"debug": true,
"timeout": 5000,
}
}
Support for Extra Surrounding Quotes
// Automatically cleans up extra quotes at the beginning and end
"{
"name": "Bob",
"status": "active"
}"
// After processing, becomes standard JSON
{
"name": "Bob",
"status": "active"
}
This situation often occurs when exporting data from certain systems or copy-pasting. The tool automatically identifies and cleans up these extra quotes, ensuring the output is valid JSON format.
Practical Use Cases
Development Debugging
When you copy JavaScript objects from the browser console, they’re often in non-standard format. Simply paste into the tool and instantly get standard JSON format, greatly improving debugging efficiency.
Config File Conversion
Many project configuration files use JavaScript object format, but some systems require standard JSON. This tool can easily complete the conversion without manual modification.
Code Cleanup
In team collaboration, different developers may have different coding habits. This tool can unify formats and maintain code style consistency.
Data Standardization
Data obtained from different sources may have inconsistent formats. This tool can quickly standardize them, ensuring data quality.
User-Friendly Interface Design
Theme Switching
Supports light and dark themes to adapt to different usage environments and personal preferences.
Multi-Language Support
Provides four language interfaces: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese, meeting global user needs.
Responsive Design
Whether on desktop, tablet, or mobile, it provides a great user experience.
Real-Time Processing
All operations are real-time responsive - see results immediately after changing options, no waiting required.
Data Security
All data processing is done locally - your data is never uploaded to any server.
User Experience
Using this tool is very simple:
- Paste Data - Paste your JSON data into the input box
- Select Options - Check the processing options as needed (all options are checked by default)
- Choose Operation - Click format, compress, validate, or convert button (default is format)
- Get Results - One-click copy or download the processed results
The entire process is done locally, no need to upload to a server. JSON formatting is completed in just a few seconds.
